Has the common cold hit your home? If you have children, chances are...IT HAS, and possibly in a big way.Yesterday marked our first "stay home from school" experience this school year. My first grade son woke up early in the morning, coughing and congested. He complained of a sore throat and wanted to sleep more. I offered he stay home from school, and he was quick to agree. It was the only time I've had to keep him home from school for sickness, but I felt confident in doing so. His cough sounded very deep and wet, something I was sure would send his teacher and classmates running!
I knew the drill...I quickly rubbed 2 drops of Melaleuca on his chest and neck, OnGaurd on his feet, and Breathe on his nasal passages as well as on his chest. He then came to rest in my room, where I had him from 8:00 am to 10:00 am. He kept asking to get up, but I said resting was the drill for kids who stay home with the sickies!
Once 10:00 came around, he was a whole different kid! His cough had subsided, he wanted to play with his little sister, and his nose was needing blowing so I reapplied the Breathe (this helps break up mucus and is great with a drop of Lime as well). At that point, I totally felt bad about keeping him home from school! We had a great day together, and he even got to go to his 5:00 drama class with no problem. With sick germs in your home, it's a great idea to have your cold air diffuser going as well. OnGaurd has amazing immunity boosting qualities and kills airborne pathogens, so this is a favorite of mine. You can also use lemon. I continue to apply OnGaurd topically (or taken internally) to the healthy people in the home! This helps keep us safe from the bug already inside.
There are many only cold remedy protocols using doTERRA, but this is what we do in our home. Do you have a different experience? Comments? Questions? Comment below, or email me at KellidoTERRA@gmail.com. I can't wait to share more!
